The constellation of Taurus, the Bull

Taurus horoscope today

The Bull, 20 April to 20 May · Earth, fixed, ruled by Venus

The sky Moon in Libra, then Scorpio from 10.39pm · waning crescent, 3% lit · Mercury retrograde, Venus retrograde, Saturn retrograde. New moon on Monday at 7.02am, two days away.

The curry house by the station

Old pleasures look good today. Venus, your ruler, is retrograde, and you may find yourself wanting the restaurant from years ago or the recipe on your grandmother’s card. Follow the craving. Familiar is not the same as dull.

Love

A place from the early days may be calling: the café with no parking, the curry house by the station. Take your partner back there, if you have one, and order what you ordered then. It costs very little, and it tells them, without a speech, that you still like the beginning of the story.

Work and money

Your bank statement may be hiding three small subscriptions you no longer use: the gym from January, an app, a magazine still arriving in plastic. Go through last month with a pencil over breakfast and cancel two today. Eleven pounds a month is a very good bottle of wine, twelve times a year.

Body and mind

An afternoon nap is allowed on a Saturday in November, and you are very good at them. Forty minutes, curtains half drawn, a blanket over your feet. Set an alarm, though, or you may wake at six with no idea what century it is.

If you read nothing else

Go back to the old table and order the same thing

And tomorrow, Sunday 8 November

Someone else carves the roast. A slow Sunday suits you, and this one asks very little: a good lunch, a warm room, a film if the rain sets in.

What Taurus is like

Taurus is the sign that wants the ground under its feet to be real. It likes good bread, a bed that has been made, a bank balance that is not a surprise, and people who mean what they said last week. Ruled by Venus, it is more sensual than it lets on: it notices textures, smells, the weight of a good knife.

Its strength is that it finishes. Once a Taurus has decided a thing is worth doing, it will still be doing it long after the fast starters have wandered off. Its cost is the same quality seen from the other side: a decision it has already made is very hard to reopen, and it can sit in a situation that stopped working two years ago because leaving would mean admitting it.

Taurus in love

Slow to start, and then extremely present. Taurus shows love in practical currency: the meal, the lift to the station, the thing quietly paid for. It wants to be sure, and it wants to be touched. Jealousy is its worst weather, and it passes if you say the plain thing early.

Taurus at work

Reliable to the point of being taken for granted. Taurus prefers a job it can master and be paid properly for over a job that sounds exciting in the description. It is unusually good with money, other people’s included, and it is worth asking for a rise more often than it does.

Who Taurus gets on with

  • Virgo: Both check things, and neither finds that boring.
  • Capricorn: The same long view, built at the same speed.
  • Cancer: Cancer supplies the warmth Taurus is too proud to ask for.

Aquarius and Leo pull in the other direction: one wants to rearrange everything on principle, the other wants an audience, and Taurus wants Sunday to look like last Sunday.
